Inside Our George to the Rescue Project
Transforming two homes for two remarkable families in collaboration with NBC’s George to the Rescue and Habitat for Humanity was more than just a design project—it was an opportunity to create spaces that truly nurture the people who live in them. Our approach at Conscious Home by BGD is always about more than aesthetics; it’s about thoughtfully designing environments that support well-being, calm, and connection.
Blanche Garcia infused her Conscious Home BGD methods into every detail, tailoring these homes to reflect each family’s unique needs & personalities.
Thoughtful Details that Make a Difference
Throughout both homes, we incorporated plants and art to enhance the spaces visually and emotionally. Studies show that integrating elements like greenery and art into a home environment has measurable effects on mood and well-being.
“Plants improve not only air quality but also bring an element of calm and tranquility to a space, reducing stress and fostering positivity,” notes environmental psychologist Dr. Joye Reedy. The presence of these natural elements transforms each room, adding warmth, personality, and a sense of grounding.

Collaborating with a Dedicated Team
This project wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication of our team and our trusted vendors, whose generous support brought these designs to life. With contributions from partners like Schwartz Design Showroom, Phillip Jeffries Ltd., West Essex Lighting, Stark Carpet, and Shaun Killman, we were able to bring our Conscious Home methods to this project, making each room a blend of beauty, comfort, and purpose.
We’re grateful to have had the opportunity to bring these families’ visions to life with a design that truly feels like home.
